Study programme

Scenography is an intensive study programme, which, in addition to the compulsory curriculum, often requires you to work in the evenings and attend stage performances. Due to small-sized groups, (annually about six students are admitted) much time is devoted to individual supervision. Regularly individual and group discussions are held to evaluate your work and if necessary, adjust aspects of your personal development. To make a success of this study programme, you need lots of dedication, motivation, ingenuity and also self-independence.

During your first year you orientate yourself in the field of scenography, both set design and costumes. You also establish an artistic and theoretical basis. You choose a specialization during the second academic year, while the final two years are the most individual part of your study. You will then gain a surplus of practical experience as (assistant) designer with a professional production. You also design theatre productions within the Theaterschool and write an essay to show that you can substantiate your ideas theoretically and philosophically.
