Admission and Selection
Each year some 1000 candidates apply to be admitted to the study programme. Only a very small minority can be admitted. The selection procedure assesses if a candidate has the physical, artistic and mental ability to develop into a professional actor or cabaret artist.
For the 2010-2011 academic year, applications must be submitted before 1 December 2009. The complete selection process takes place between January and April 2010 and consists of writing a letter of motivation (which we must receive, together with your application, before 1 December 2009), a preliminary audition, a two-week course and a final audition.
Among other information, your letter of motivation must contain the following:
• a personal statement about why you wish to follow the study programme;
• what your expectations are;
• why you think you are suitable for the study programme;
• we are also curious to know if you are a regular theatre-goer , what you go and see and even if you don’t often attend the theatre, why that is;
• title and author of the monologue (a maximum of 30 lines ) that you intend to deliver during the audition; or in the case of a song (Dutch language compulsory) the composer and lyricist;
• don’t forget to give your full name and address at the end of your letter!

Admission requirements : mbo-4, HAVO or VWO diploma and selection procedure
The study programme of the School for Drama & Contemporary Music Theatre is given in Dutch. Foreign students must have adequate oral and written command of the Dutch language.
The School for Drama & Contemporary Music Theatre does not hold open day(s). We do offer an orientation course for interested parties. This takes place from Monday 19 October through Saturday 24 October 2009.
Note: The orientation course has been fully booked in the meantime. Regretfully no further applications can be accepted.

Please send a letter with your name and address and state for which study programme you wish to receive an application form and if it concerns an orientation course and/or selection procedure. Please include two € 0,44 postage stamps to facilitate mailing.
