Theatre programmes

When you choose to study at the Theatre School, you choose an art education within a broad professional field: the actor in a repertory stock, the actor in musical theatre, the actor in films and television drama, the mime performer and the cabaretière. In addition, there are many different professions around the stage, such as the director, the technician, the designer and the theatre teacher. The Theatre school provides a specialised education in all these professions.

The study programmes can help you artistically and resourcefully to further develop a professional level, where the top of the professional body, national as well as international, is the norm. The school creates a climate in which the capacity to be (self)critical, independence and artistic freedom are central elements.  The building of the Theatre school, located in the dynamic centre of Amsterdam, is specially designed for theatre education. It features a large theatre, a dance theatre and several performance studios.

If you only desire the glamour that surrounds the business, it might be a deception. The professions of actor, theatre maker or teacher demand a strong mental and physical condition, and choosing the art of theatre means choosing a way of living. Talent is a prerequisite, but you definitely need to really want it as well.
